Benefits of Boxing for Busy women

There are loads of physical and mental benefits of boxing. I’d like to chat about why boxing is great in particular for busy women.

The first and maybe most obvious is that boxing can be a big stress reliever. If you’re busy, juggling all the things in life, a busy job, social life, kids perhaps, the running of a household, stress can be present without you even realising, and can be having a serious impact on your physical and mental health. Stress can reveal itself in the most unusual of ways. So one of the best ways to get some of this stress out is a good boxing workout. Nothing feels quite a good as giving a good Jab Cross to the bag and letting out some of that frustration of the day.

Up next is the fact that not everyone loves doing cardio. But whether you’re a fan or not of cardio, we can’t neglect the fact is has serious benefits for our cardiovascular health and overall fitness, so it needs to happen somewhere. Enter – boxing, the cardio workout that won’t feel like a a typical cardio workout. Boxing gets the heart rate up and you don’t need to spend 30 minutes steady state to get the same effect. Just a few rounds of boxing will do the same.

Another benefit is… boxing takes you out of your head. For the busy women that I coach, I’ve noticed over the years that their brains just don’t shut off. They’re thinking all the time, planning, mental to do lists, it never stops. However, when it comes to some rounds of boxing. You 100% need to concentrate on what you’re doing at that moment. Focussing on the combination and moving well is that fastest way to take yourself away from the busy brain.

Finally, boxing is a full body workout. When done right, we’re working on so many aspects at once. Utilising our legs for a strong foundation. Our core, back shoulders and arms are all getting in on the action. Not to mention we can train different energy systems like our endurance and explosive power which is so important for women.

There’s obviously a lot more benefits that you get from boxing, but these are some of my favourites for the busy women of the world!!!
